Introduction
The Indian Institute of Science also known as IISc, Bangalore is a public deemed, research university. This higher education and research in science, engineering, design and management institute is located in the southern Indian city of Bangalore, Karnataka.
This University was established in 1909 with active support from Jamsetji Tata and is also locally known as the Tata Institute. It was granted a deemed university status in 1958 and was recognized as an institute of Eminence in 2018. IISc is a public research university affiliated with ACU, UGC, AIU and MISA. Govindan Rangarajan is the current Director of this University, serving his fourth year for this institute. The University also ranks 1st in Nirf Rankings 2024 among the top 100 universities.

Infrastructure
IISc Bangalore’s campus is spread over 400 acres. The university is about 6 km away from Bangalore’s railway station. The infrastructure of IISc will made you feel that you are in your dreams. The whole campus is filled with many things from Bank to Classrooms. While the trees present in campus gave you fresh air and made you feel relaxed.
Hostels
Hostels are available for both Boys and Girls and Married women also. Hostels also provide you with sufficient parking facilities for two-wheelers and bicycles. Hostels also have limited accommodation for married students along with single and double-room apartments for married students with their families. Hostels have been divided into blocks. UG students are assigned E, U and S blocks. Rooms are well equipped with beds, fans and lights. The hostels are assigned on the first day of campus with a monthly payment of 5000.

Library

The Library of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is regarded as one of the best scientific and technical libraries in India. It is also known as JRD Tata Memorial Library. In exam seasons students can stay up till 2 pm in night for their studies. The library has a vast collection of books and journals. IISc has more than 1,97,000 books, 2,15,000 volumes and 13000 online books. Students can find various types of books in this library.
