Introduction

Jawaharlal Nehru University, also known as JNU, is the best University in India and a world-renowned centre for teaching and research. This year, the National Institution Ranking Framework ranked JNU 2nd among the top 100 universities in India. The University was established by an act of Parliament in 1966 and named after India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Kanwal Sibal is the current Chancellor of the university, and the President of India is a visitor. JNU’s academic departments are divided into 20 schools and centres. In addition, the university has exchange programmes and academic collaboration through MoUs with 71 universities worldwide. The university’s alumni include Former Prime Ministers of Nepal Baburam Bhattarai and Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan.
